Step into the future of emergency services training with this dynamic, hands-on session led in partnership with City of London Police. Discover how Scenario-Based Training (SBT) is transforming the way officers—and potentially all emergency responders—prepare for the pressures of real-world incidents.
This immersive approach allows professionals to test their skills in high stressed scenarios drawn from actual events, receiving tailored coaching and reflective feedback. From communication under stress to rapid tactical decision-making, SBT sharpens both mindset and skill.
In this session, you'll:
- Observe live scenario demonstrations covering both verbal resistance and violent escalation.
- See how officers are coached in-the-moment during complex interactions—such as vehicle stops that evolve unpredictably.
- Join an open discussion to explore how SBT could be adapted to your service, including the chance to suggest custom scenarios.
- Take part in an afternoon of practical walk throughs, multi-agency simulations designed around your own operational challenges.
MORNING SESSION (40 minutes)
The Introduction of Scenario Based Training to Policing
The new public and personal safety training gives officers the chance to apply their skills to scenarios based on real-life incidents and receive personalised feedback where they can discuss the rationale of their decision making. Demonstrations will be conducted on scenario based training covering different subject behaviours.
Followed by a Q and A around SBT and opportunity to suggest scenarios that suit your training needs around personal safety for the afternoon session.
Vehicle Stop Check – Level 2
Will witness how SBT is coached during a level two SPB scenario where a vehicle has been stopped by police and the subjects will offer verbal resistance and a social media auditor will intervene in the process
Vehicle Stop Check – Level 6
Scenario two, is based on level 6 SPB where during a vehicle stop check the subject attacks the officers with a machete, you will witness how the Police use their PPE to gain distance to be able to disarm the subject, then use further PPE and tactics to control the subject and arrest them.

AFTERNOON SESSION (40 minutes)
How Scenario Based Training can adapt to your needs?
Your responders can experience a range of potential situations they may face in real life situations. SBT will allow them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills under pressure.
The coach during the SBT will facilitate scenarios suggested from the morning session. The training will mirror the hands-on nature of the task that emergency service professionals have to take. This has been an invaluable training method for policing since its roll out in 2022.
