Wing Commander Gary Lane MBE
Gary has over 40 years’ service with the Royal Air Force, as a regular, contractor, part time reservist and for the past 19 years as a full-time reservist. Gary has served on operations as a helicopter operations officer in Eastern Europe in the 90s and the Middle East on numerous tours through the 2000’s as well as a variety of postings including the Falkland Island, Central and Northern America.
For the past 10 years Gary has served as one of Defences Regional Liaison Officers, primarily covering the RAFs interactions with 12 LRFs across the North of England and the Isle of Man. This has seen him support Military Aid to Civil Authorities on bad weather and terrorist operations as well as numerous multi agency training exercises. He is a JESIP trainer and in the past assisted the national delivery team as a ‘train the trainer’. He also supports the national Resilience Direct team championing the use of the system pan MOD.
Since his qualification he has driven forward the role of the NILO in Defence and now acts as a sector lead on the NILO strategic board, has helped facilitate delivery of the foundation course and to NATO partners.
