Terry joined Hertfordshire Constabulary in 2000 starting on response in St Albans where I remained for 7 years. After which I joined the Armed Policing Unit as an AFO (authorised firearms officer). After a couple of years, I became an operational firearms commander (OFC) and specialised in armed support to surveillance. I remained in the firearms arena, working across the tri-force collaboration, until 2019 when I left for promotion and returning to response policing. After 18 months and despite thoroughly enjoying the return I moved into neighbourhood policing, expanding my portfolio and partnership working experience. Following a further promotion to Inspector, I’m currently in post as a Force incident manager in the force public contact centre, where I am a initial firearms tactical commander (ITFC) and hold the portfolio for major/critical incidents, including Op Plato
