Chief Superintendent Sara Crane has over 31 years’ service with Devon & Cornwall Police, with a career spanning response, neighbourhood policing and partnership working.  As a local Commander Sara was a Tactical Firearms Commander and Post Incident Manger.   During COVID-19, she was seconded to the National Police Operations Coordination Centre, leading the Recovery, Reform and Learning Programme for Operation Talla.  This work ensured that policing captured lessons learned to improve ongoing policing delivery, and informed future planning.

Sara is a passionate advocate for women in policing and a strong believer in coaching and mentoring, acting as an ally and sponsor to support others’ development.

Sara was elected the Police Superintendents’ Association’s national gender inclusion lead in 2023 and was elected as Vice President in 2024.  As Vice President, Sara represents and advocates for Superintendents nationally, influencing policy and reform while ensuring members’ views are heard at the highest levels of policing in England and Wales.
