Anti-Violence Collaborative Wales Senior Safety & Learning Advisor , NHS Wales

Gareth has over 25 years of experience in law enforcement, having served in the Royal Air Force as a police officer Gareth began a career with Gwent Police, where he worked as a uniform officer and a detective, rising to the rank of Detective Sergeant, where he specialised in the investigation of sexual crime against children and adults.   Gareth holds a degree in Public Sector Management and post-graduate certificates in Child Forensic Studies and Counselling Skills. 

 On retirement from the police service, Gareth worked for the British Red Cross and then as the Violence & Aggression Case Officer at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, before his current post as Principal Safety & Learning Officer within NHS Wales Welsh Risk Pool.   

Gareth has responsibility for developing the Anti-Violence Collaborative Wales (AVC) which is a collaboration of all NHS Wales bodies, the Police Service in Wales, the CPS and NHS staff groups.  The purpose of the group is to prevent and reduce violence on the NHS Wales footprint
