Dominic Murphy
Retiring in March 2026 after 32 years’ service, Dominic concluded his service as Commander of SO15 and Protective Security Operations, where he led more than 2300 officers and staff within Counter Terrorism Policing. In addition to leading the policing response to all aspects of Counter Terrorism in London and internationally (on behalf the UK interests overseas), Dominic provided national operational leadership for Counter State Threats and War Crimes. With more than 22 years of his service in Counter Terrorism and national security, Dominic has led or responded to nearly all terrorist attacks in the UK, or those affecting British citizens overseas, since the 7/7 bombings. Dominic is an experienced media communicator across a mixed media environment. Dominic was awarded a Queens Police Medal in 2020 for his services to Counter Terrorism and his work leading the investigation into the Novichok attack in Salisbury. Dominic has a masters degree in Applied Criminology from Cambridge University. Since retirement Dominic is the founder and CEO of Taverner Risk, a risk and security consultancy and advisory service. Dominic lectures nationally and internationally on leadership, investigations, crisis response, the strategic security landscape and threat analysis and is a subject matter expert in CT and National Security preparedness and response.
