This summer will see the launch of Project Brooklands, the UK’s first housing scheme created exclusively for key workers.

Based in Liverpool, the co-living development has been designed specifically for NHS staff, emergency services personnel, teachers and prison officers, providing accommodation built around the realities of shift work and frontline professions.

Created by the founder of Black Flamingo Homes, the project was developed in response to the challenges many key workers face within the private rental market. The scheme includes private ensuite rooms, quiet decompression spaces and a community-focused living environment intended to support the wellbeing of residents both inside and outside of work.

Alongside the launch of the development, a percentage of profits from Project Brooklands will support Your Light Matters, a Liverpool-based charity raising awareness around male suicide and mental health.

A grand opening fundraising event is also planned for this summer, with local businesses and organisations invited to support the initiative through sponsorship, donations or in-kind contributions. Funds raised will go towards supporting the work of Your Light Matters and helping expand awareness of the project’s mission to support frontline and key worker communities.
