Our conference programme is being carefully curated to address the needs of all staff within the emergency services. The focus will be on the sharing of knowledge and best practice through keynote addresses, case studies, open discussion, panel debates, round tables and collaborative learning.

Resilience and Emergency Planning

Communication and collaboration are the cornerstones of effective planning. We look at the challenges facing resilience forums and emergency planning teams, the technology that is changing how we deal with future crises, communication strategies, community resilience projects.

We’ll also cover how the services will work together in the face of the challenges presented by climate change, war, terrorism, future technologies and new volatile energy sources.

Procurement Excellence

With hundreds of products on the show floor, the procurement needs of the emergency services are at the heart of the Blue Light Show.

In these sessions we look at how visitors can get the best out of procurement planning, from choosing future-proofed equipment and technology that meets requirements today and tomorrow, cross service collaborative procurement strategies, to contract management.

Creating a diverse working culture is a key agenda for all businesses and is especially important within the public sector. In these sessions we discuss strategies from enhancing diversity within the services to better reflect the communities served.

We’ll cover developing a working environment and culture that supports and integrates all staff members, enhancing the recruitment process, increasing staff retention levels to nurturing positive relations with local communities.

Current & Future Challenges

All of the emergency services are facing a new and diverse set of challenges. From the devastating effects of climate change, risks to the public and service staff created by new technologies and volatile new energy sources, increased illegal immigration, cyber crime, an ageing and vulnerable population to the use of AI and augmented reality.

We take a deep dive into how these challenges will necessitate change in planning, operational approach, training, and product development.

Health and Wellbeing

Mental health, injury, and wellbeing, affect frontline staff in all of the services and are the main reasons for poor staff retention and recruitment challenges. We look at the pioneering steps that are being taken to support staff within the services.

From managing staff injuries through mapping and exercise, supporting crew members with PTS, mental health issues and suicidal thoughts, to managing the needs of a diverse and ageing workforce.
