Responding Together: A New National Partnership Supporting Emergency Responders Before, During and Long After Critical Incidents
Emergency responders are often the first to arrive and the last to leave when communities face crisis. Yet while significant resources are mobilised to support victims directly affected by major incidents, there has historically been no coordinated national mechanism to provide funding for sustained wellbeing support for the people responding to them.
This session will introduce the landmark partnership between the Blue Light Card Foundation and the National Emergencies Trust, bringing together expertise in emergency funding, grant-making and responder wellbeing to create a scalable national support model for emergency service personnel.
Attendees will hear how the partnership enables rapid mobilisation of funding following major incidents, while also ensuring long-term investment in recovery, resilience and psychological support. Through a three-tier local, regional and national response framework, the model provides access to trusted programmes and specialist interventions when and where they are needed most.
The session will explore how collaboration across sectors can transform support for those who dedicate their lives to protecting others, ensuring help remains available not just in the immediate aftermath of an incident, but throughout the recovery journey and beyond.
