Martyn's Law - Overview of Tier 1 and Tier 2 Obligations
As the communications lead for the Martyn’s Law campaign, Nathan Emmerich will provide insights into the evolving terrorism threat landscape and the growing impact of extremist ideologies on communities. By combining context through recent terror attacks including the attack on a Synagogue in Manchester, with the practical measures outlined under the Standard and Enhanced Tier requirements under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, Nathan will highlight how robust security protocols can significantly mitigate risks and ultimately save lives.
Although we are still within the implementation period, Nathan will focus on the importance of proactively strengthening individual and collective security culture through Martyn’s Law. He is an advocate for collective responsibility when it comes to safeguarding public spaces and his talk aims to equip attendees with actionable insights to improve security across qualifying premises and events. While Martyn’s Law will not prevent further terror attacks from happening, Nathan’s talk aims to create a sense of preparedness and resilience that will improve the response in the event of a terror attack.
