What Happens When it Happens - Lessons Learned from the Parliamentary Terrorist Attack 2017
"What Happens When It Happens" provides a rare insight into a terrorist incident.
Fay, previously Deputy Director of Security Operations at Parliament, was on duty on the day of the Westminster Bridge terrorist attack where members of the public were killed on the bridge and PC Keith Palmer was murdered.
The offender was killed on site. In this presentation, Fay gives an inside view of what happened on the day, how did the organisation respond; how her team worked with and supported the Metropolitan Police but also what happened in the following days, weeks, months and even years.
From this, Fay draws on that day to help the audience consider what to expect when such an incident happens; what can be done to prepare not just for such an incident but the after math - from staff welfare to managing the inquest, being part of the security review and the lasting impact of an incident that attracted global attention and changed security and policing, especially for armed policing.
